About Charlotte

How my passions turned into a labor of love as a doula

As a result of my life experiences and training, I am living out my passions and using what I’ve learned to help others.  I am a mama of 8 beautiful babies.  5 of whom we got to raise, 2 are in heaven and 1 now lives with her biological mother.  It’s not been easy, but we make it work.  We live in the quaint town of Clinton, TN and I work hard to live as God’s servant to others through everyone I meet.  It is one of the gifts He gave me, along with teaching.  Serving others gives me such joy and fulfillment that it is what saved me from a very dark time in my life.  I teach classes of all kinds because I believe with the right knowledge many more mamas can live a happier, healthier and more content life, however they see that to be.  I like to think of myself as a mentor.  That word seems to embody everything about me and everything that makes me feel fulfilled.  “Mentor: someone who teaches or gives help and advice to a less experienced and often younger person”.  I mentor moms who feel lost, who are overwhelmed, who feel insecure or lack knowledge.  I have become very passionate about this.  Passion has become a new favorite word of mine.

Some things I’m passionate about: education, childbirth, breastfeeding, foster care, living debt free, photography, Africa (Uganda), essential oils, natural remedies for life, adoption, travel, and mentoring moms.  Oh, and of course, coffee!

During pregnancy, labor and postpartum, I want to walk with you and help in any way I can.  Whether you are pregnant with your first, or a seasoned mama with questions, I am here to guide you on this journey of mothering that is so difficult and often feels so lonely.  You are not alone in your situation and it’s very possible I have been through it too.  As a seasoned mom, I feel for new mama’s who are typically overwhelmed with the responsibility of caring for a tiny helpless human being.  There are no required classes on how to do this the “right” way, because there is no “right” way, however, there are many tips and tricks to make raising a baby easier and overall a happier and more relaxing experience.  I want to instill in you the confidence of claiming the new title “mom”.  You can do this, but you will save yourself a lot of stress getting some guidance from someone who’s learned the hard way.

I have a M.Ed. and a certificate in Special Education.  That is where my teaching began.  As I have gotten away from the classroom and focused on areas I am more passionate about I have earned specialist certificates, which has provided up-to-date education and training.  I believe a person can always learn more and improve their knowledge in any given area, so I continue to take classes and earn more certificates.  Often times experience can trump a certificate, but I strive to eventually have both.  In addition to my personal experience as a mom of 8, (3 of whom I did not get to embrace for long) and my work experience, my current trainings and certificates include:

  • Labor Doula
  • Spinning Babies
  • Postpartum Doula
  • Bereavement Doula
  • Infant Feeding Specialist
  • Tongue and Lip Ties
  • Bradley Method Childbirth Educator
  • Sexual Development Certification
  • Infant, Child, Adult CPR
